Sure, there are federations of unions operating at international level, and they do a lot of great work. However, that's not the same as groups of workers organising themselves internationally, whether it be around supply chain, occupation, industry and/or employer. THAT'S what we're here to discuss. (Note: It's not instead of, but as well as!).
Here are the models that have been proposed so far. We'd like you to choose at least one and let us know what you think.
1. Supply Chain Unionism»
2. Social Network Unionism»
3. Parecon Unionism»
4. Direct Unionism»
5. Peer-to-Peer Unionism»
6. Global Frameworks Unionism»
7. One Big Union»
8. Seafarers' Internationalism»
There are at least three more models still to come:
- The Global Alliance Model
- The Seafarers' Model
- The Occupational Citizenship Model
If you join the Network, you will also be able to add your own proposal and/or take part in the preliminary discussion that seeks to bring this all together, later in the year.
In the meantime, this page acts as a resource base for the discussion. You are also most welcome to ask questions and/or introduce yourself and your work (see panel at right). You can also reach us at firstname.lastname@example.org.
