mentoring

Looking for a mentor?

It can be an intimidating experience to be suddenly elected workplace rep, and to find yourself at the centre of a dozen maelstroms. Freaked out? We recommend that you contact your union first. How can they help? Do they have their own mentoring or training programmes? Can they suggest someone you might have a chat with from time to time?
new unionism››
also has a mentoring service, which you are welcome to use as a complement to this. However we'd advise you to check this step with your official union rep first. There may be factors involved in your situation which mean that a particular approach is necessary. But if this is not the case, and a bit of general discussion with an experienced unionist is just the thing, then fill out the form below. And good luck!

Think you can help?

If you've been in the union movement for a few years, especially as a workplace rep or profesional union worker, you'll know how difficult it is finding the initial confidence and assertiveness to make change in the workplace (yet alone cope with the changes being pushed at you from above). We want to help provide an appropriate link between experienced unionists and keen beginners. The obvious problem is that you don't know each other, and the match may be unsuitable for any manner of reasons: national industrial relations laws; differing union strategies; or just simple personality differences. For this reason we would like you to fill out the form below, so that we can make the best match possible.
