Can you spare one hours pay to help us cover running costs? Our annual budget is $US11,500. A breakdown of this, plus details of the funds raised so far, is available here»

The donations we receive do not cover basic costs, yet alone projects. Volunteers are still stumping up out of their own pockets. One member has suggested that:

• people continue to be allowed to join for free, but that this should no longer include automatic voting rights. Instead...
• full membership (ie with voting rights) should be for financial members only, based on both a donation and identity verification. To allow for people on low incomes, donations in the form of work should be allowed.
• a category of "organisational membership" should be established, to allow unions and labor-friendly groups to join. To protect the network structure it is suggested that organisational members have a single nominated spokesperson and a single vote.

At present we do not elect representatives, nor do we develop collective views. This means that nobody can speak for the network. In turn, this has led to problems in obtaining organisational and project support. What do you think about the idea of us having:

• a spokesperson
• a fundraiser/project co-ordinator

As a network we are often asked to become involved in campaigns. Until now we have felt obliged to say no. However we could seek a campaign-by-campaign mandate and commitment from members, and thus become much more involved in union affairs.
